27 g agar

Dissolve agar in 1 l tap water by boiling
|
200 g cornmeal
140 g sugar
50 g dry yeast
|
In the meanwhile, dissolve cornmeal, sugar and dry
yeast in 2 l of cold tap water. When the agar-solution is boiling,
add the corn-sugar-yeast-solution by and by. Stir constantly to
prevent burning.
|
10 ml propionic acid
a dash Nipagin
|
After 5 minutes of gentle boiling, reduce the heat
and add the propionic acid and the Nipagin to prevent the medium
from moldering.
|
dissolved yeast cake
|
Fill the hot medium into vials and let it chill
down to room temerature. When the medium is lukewarm, place a droplet
of a thick suspension of fresh yeast cake in water on the medium.
|
When the medium is cool, plug the vials with cotton
batting or rubber foam plugs.
